Our Programs
Comprehensive community development programs designed to create sustainable change and empower individuals to build better futures for themselves and their families.
Transforming Communities Through Action
Our comprehensive program areas work together to address the fundamental needs of vulnerable communities, creating a support system for lasting change.
Agriculture Programs
Small-Scale Pig Rearing
In Homabay, we target communities characterized by high poverty levels and limited income-generating opportunities. Our pig farming project improves food security, income generation, and socio-economic resilience through sustainable pig farming.
Each family receives training, two piglets, starter feed, and veterinary support. The project builds self-reliance and creates a ripple effect through a pass-on model, prioritizing the most vulnerable households including widows, orphans, people living with disabilities, and elderly-headed households.
Small-Scale Poultry Project
This project empowers vulnerable households by providing skills, resources, and support to generate income through smallholder poultry farming. Phase One includes psychosocial support, social entrepreneurship training, and practical poultry management skills.
Each participant receives 20 vaccinated indigenous chickens along with 5 roosters, with regular vaccinations and supplemental feeding. The project has created self-employment opportunities, fostering self-worth and independence among participants.
Impact Highlight
One beneficiary, a widow and mother of three, now has over 100 healthy indigenous chickens producing eggs regularly, stabilizing her household finances and enabling her children’s education.

Health Programs
Under our healthcare program, we operate two key projects: the Diabetes Support Project and Hypertension Support Network. Our dedicated staff provides psycho-social support for clients and facilitates health monitoring through routine testing and referrals.
Partnership Impact
Through our partnership with Vejos Medical Laboratory (registered by KMLTTB), we provide affordable and quality healthcare to the community.
Capacity Building Program
The primary goal of this program is to teach African cultural knowledge in such a manner that individuals appropriate an African viewpoint on contemporary cultural realities, and are able to articulate and apply that viewpoint in a professional way.
We run workshops targeting various audiences living and working in Africa, covering topics including Inter-Cultural Living, Indigenous African Moral Teachings, Peace and Justice, and Marriage and Family dynamics.

Research and Consultancies
The primary goal of St. Alphonso’s Research and Consultancies Program is the provision of an in-depth analysis of socio-economic and cultural issues that are pertinent to social transformation in Africa. Our services are anchored on Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach.
CBPR Approach
Our Community Based Participatory Research approach draws participants across all genders and age groups for comprehensive community insights.
